Transform Life through Triathlon, Embrace change

I’ve spent the last half of my career in the U.S. as a surgeon and researcher, facing stress and constant change. To stay healthy, I tried many approaches, but as work pressures grew and age caught up, I began to wonder: How can I keep performing in my 50s? How do I reduce stress and unlock my potential?

From Gym Workouts to Swimming

I’d always exercised, but never trained seriously. Then, in my 50s, I suddenly took up swimming. I learned from YouTube, struggled with 25 meters at first, but gradually improved—and even started to love it.

Then Came the Road Bike

A chance encounter introduced me to cycling. I bought a road bike without knowing anything about it—gears, saddle height, nothing. I rode around my neighborhood, then ventured onto trails. I fell, even got a concussion, but I was hooked. My rides grew longer and more meaningful.

Could I… Try a Triathlon?

A knee injury in college made running painful for decades. Even 1–2 km hurt. But once I began swimming and biking, I wondered—could I run, too? That curiosity led me to triathlon.

Getting a Coach Changed Everything

Managing three sports alone was overwhelming, so I contacted the first coach I found on Google—Melissa, an experienced triathlon coach. With just my GPS data and occasional messages, she knew exactly how I was doing and built personalized plans for me. That’s when real progress began.

Progress I Never Expected

Triathlon opened doors I didn’t know existed. It revealed abilities I didn’t know I had and introduced me to a whole new world.

The Results? A New Me.

Work stress, physical pain, fatigue—they all disappeared. Instead, I found renewed energy and awakened potential. Every day, I’m amazed by how far I’ve come and how much joy this journey brings.

If you’re asking yourself, “Is this the life I want to stay in?”—remember this: life can change at any age, and we are the ones who underestimate our own potential.

Through this blog, I hope to share how triathlon transformed my mind and body—and what it truly means to take on a challenge.
